Heidelberg and Schwetzingen

The city at the Neckar is home to Germany's oldest university, still today one of Europe's most reputed ones, and to the Heidelberg castle. Together with the beautiful old-town, the castle attracts numerous tourists every year. Even though the castle was left mostly in the state of a ruin after its last destruction by the French, it is enthroned majestically above the town center and the Neckar river.

Not far from Heidelberg, Schwetzingen is home to a beautiful castle with even more astonishing gardens in renaissance Versailles-inspired style, which invite to promenade.
