The city at the Neckar is home to Germany's oldest university, still today one of Europe's most reputed ones, and to the Heidelberg castle. Together with the beautiful old-town, the castle
attracts numerous tourists every year. Even though the castle was left mostly in the state of a ruin after its last destruction by the French, it is enthroned majestically above the town center
and the Neckar river.
Not far from Heidelberg, Schwetzingen is home to a beautiful castle with even more astonishing gardens in renaissance Versailles-inspired style, which invite to promenade.
